Highbrow lets you take control of web browser behavior

Just in case the aforementioned Choosy hasn’t sated all your browser-switching needs, there’s a new contender in the field: Helium Foot Software’s Highbrow, announced today. Helium Foot previously brought us the much admired MercuryMover, and it looks as though Highbrow will continue that tradition of quality.

Like Choosy, Highbrow aims to let you have more fine-grained control of what browsers you use for your various web-surfing tasks. The program lives in your menu bar; from there, you can direct your Mac's browser behavior. You can set it to always use your preferred browser, but hey, that's boring, right? The more interesting options are to tell it to use the browser you used most recently or, if you're the decide-on-the-fly kind of person, to have it ask you which browser to use when you click on a link. There’s also the ability to manage which browsers on your computer appear among the options.

Highbrow is available as a free trial download right now, and the 1.0 version is due imminently (before the end of the year, according to the developer). It’ll sell for $14, but if you snag it now you can save a couple of dollars.
